Client
Caregiver Connections Educations Support Organization

CCESO is a volunteer run organization of former and current migrant care workers focus on doing advocacy and leadership work in the field of carework in Canada since 2007.

The Work

  • The Logo Redesign: The new design paid homage to the old logo. The colourful palette and crisscross arms were simplified. The new logo maintains the organization’s value and mission: support workers, provide advocacy work and participate in solidarity work. This timeless logo emphasize the many ways CCESO offers a ‘lending hand’ to its members.

  • Site Redesign: The website has a fresh look with updated information architecture that is more accessible and navigable for website visitors. Many of whom are seeking updates on the state or status of migrant carework in Canada.

  • Teach-in: I developed an online teach-ins so that members feel empowered to run and post on their website in the way they see fit. As well as developing an easy to use, culturally appropriate owner’s manual which CCESO members can access whenever they need to.

An homage to the old logo, the new timeless design emphasize the many ways the CCESO offers a ‘lending hand’ to its members.

Client
Alexandra Park Neighbourhood Learning Centre

Alexandra Park Neighbourhood Learning Centre is an adult literacy program in downtown Toronto. As a community based learning centre, they have been offering learner-centred classes for adults for the last forty years.

The Work

  • Migrated the APNLC newsletters into the new site for ease of access

  • Accessibility was top priority in the site redesign. The site refresh includes a specifically designed Class and Workshop page for adult learners who generally access this information on their mobile phone. With this in mind, the text size is increased and written in clear language. The schedule is also organized for easy scrolling and reading on the mobile. This is to accommodate even the most basic tech users among the learners.

Kim Wilson, community literacy worker, APNLC

“Althea created an organizational website for a community literacy organization where we sent her the copy, and Althea designed the magic! We were able to troubleshoot various pre-existing design challenges together via Zoom and email, and she was highly responsive and communicative throughout the process. Althea is easy to work with and is both professional and personal at the same time. We have hired Althea for a number of projects and will continue to do so.”

Wanda Tse, Program Supervisor, DPNCHC

“I worked with Althea on three projects, and she was a pleasure to work with every time. She uses a collaborative approach that really lets everyone's voice be heard. She was always on top of deadlines and kept our group in check. She was able to design training that addressed the complex content and the diverse needs of our end users while being engaging and easy-to-use. I would highly recommend Althea for any projects you have!”
